When I was installing the SIMM, the snaps on the holder broke off. I had
no idea that they could, or that it
would take such effort to lift the SIMM into the holder. The memory
works when the SIMM doesn't lose its
connection in the holder.
I understand that it won't be economical to get fixed. Do you have any advice or suggestions on what will hold the SIMM in place, or what my next step should be (i.e., buy new motherboard, etc.)?
The real solution is to buy a new motherboard, as you so presciently suggest.
The cognoscenti are known to implement "make-do" fixes using rubber bands and/or folded pieces of paper to keep the SIMM standing at attention.
